Fall is a beautiful time on the Central Coast. The leaves start to change and cooler weather settles in. San Luis Obispo County has an abundance of autumn-themed activities to satisfy your seasonal bucket list.
You don’t have to be picky when it comes to choosing the perfect place to grab those much-desired pumpkin patch photos. The always lovable Avila Valley Barn features animals to interact with, fresh produce and baked goods, and of course endless choices of pumpkins. The charming Brookshire Farm has all the pumpkin options and a corn maze to get lost in. Chesebrough Farm not only sells pumpkins but fresh produce from their side of the road stand. No matter which option you choose, you’re in for a fun-filled time.
Send yourself back to simpler times and pick apples right off the tree. There’s nothing more satisfying than eating the fruit you picked yourself! Take a short drive over to See Canyon Fruit Ranch for Golden Delicious, Red Gold, Fuji, Red Delicious, Pippin, Gala, and many others. And don’t forget to taste some of their fresh apple cider. Also, a short drive away is Gopher Glen, where you can also get your apple-picking fix, along with hard cider.
There’s no better way to celebrate the season than with a local festival. The Cambria Scarecrow Festival runs all October long and features scarecrows across the city made by community members. Go on a hunt to see how many you can find! Looking for fun for the whole family? The Atascadero Fall Festival is sure to please. Nov. 19 – Nov. 21, enoy carnival rides, beer and live music. Grab a hot chocolate or warm drink from one of our favorite coffee shops like Scout Coffee or Kreuzberg and get comfortable in one of our plush beds. Find your favorite fall themed-film and just relax. We also recommend turning on your fireplace, like those in our suites, to really give you the autumn effect!
